Who We Are

Read Quebec celebrates the province’s unique and vibrant English-language literary culture. Featuring books published by members of the Association of English-language Publishers of Quebec, as well as a curated selection of books by Quebec writers published outside the province, this is your place to discover a book from here.

The Association of English-language Publishers of Quebec (Association des éditeurs de langue anglaise du Québec; AELAQ) is a non-profit organization that advances the publication, distribution, and promotion of English-language books from Quebec. We support our member publishers through professional development seminars, advocacy, and marketing initiatives. To find out more about AELAQ and our members, visit us here.

AELAQ’s offices are located in Montreal, known as Tiotia’ke in the Kanien’keha:ka language and Mooniyang in the language of the Anishinaabe. The association represents a diverse community who live and work on the territories of many Indigenous peoples, including the Kanien’keha:ka, Abenaki, Anishinaabe, and Huron-Wendat. As an organization representing publishers and writers, we acknowledge the first storytellers of these lands. We strive to change the way we read and listen, in order to move toward a more equitable future for books and writers.
