Shifting currents embrace and carry along, but also grab and slam, throw a body out. Tidal is about swimming with these forces that swirl and churn, creating chaos, destruction, sorrow, beauty, exhilaration. The poems offer a glance at brothers, cousins, aunts, children, boyfriends, husbands and introduce the reader to places they’ve never been or imagined, yet need to settle into, to listen to her tale.
