Joe Adler, a third-generation logger, knows only life in the bush. A man dies on his
watch, his wife abandons him and his seven-year-old daughter for writing school in
Toronto. Left alone, he enlists the help of Jenny Lacroix, the wife of his fellow logger
killed on the job. Resentful, angry and feeling guilty, he threatens to spiral down the
path of fury, booze, and violence that did his father in. A tale of love and redemption
set in the rolling black spruce forests north of Lake Superior.
